The D1 Application for a Driving Licence Form has had to be re-designed. It was felt that having any future form simply agreed by the Minister would be the better and simpler option. This was because in the past, when small amendments were required to the form, the Order had to be changed – with all the bureaucracy that entailed. It is now incumbent on the Minister to approve the new D1 Application for a Driving Licence Form and the declaration at section 8 of the form.įrom the early days of the above project it was felt that the D1 Application for a Driving Licence Form should be de-prescribed from the Motor Vehicles (Driving Licences)(Jersey) Order 2003. The legislative changes to facilitate the issuing of the new credit card style driving licences were debated in the form of the Road Traffic (No57)(Jersey) Regulations 200- by the States at the sitting of 28 th March 2007. The project to remove the computerised driving licence system from the States VAX platform to an independent platform has been successfully completed. To obtain the agreement of the Minister for Transport and Technical Services for the introduction of the revised, de-prescribed D1 “Application for a Driving Licence” Form. The Deputy Inspector of Motor Traffic will distribute forms to the parishes. This will save bureaucracy in the future if the D1 should need amending. The revisions to the Road Traffic (Jersey) Law 1956, approved by the States at the sitting of 28 th March 2007, require the Minister to approve the form of the “D1 Application for a Driving Licence” form and the declaration on the form. The Minister approved the new, revised D1 Application for a Driving Licence form, including the declaration in section 8 of the form.
